Cornerstone Fellowship is an independent, evangelical
Christian church composed primarily of gay men, lesbians and transexual/transgendered
individuals who have been called by God to minister first within our community
and then to the rest of the world. This ministry, one of reconciliation
(...God...gave us the ministry of reconciliation... II Corinthians 5:18), is
twofold. First, with those who have never received the gift of salvation, we
seek to share the good news of God's forgiveness of their sins through Jesus
Christ:
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
And, to those who have already accepted Christ as their
Savior, but have been rejected by other churches because of their sexuality, we
offer the good news from God found in Romans 8:1:
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus.
After much consideration, the name of Cornerstone Fellowship
was chosen, based on I Peter 2:6:
See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious
cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.
Even as Christ was rejected by His society, yet accepted by
God (The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. I Peter
2:7),
so we who also are often rejected by our society receive our acceptance through
faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior.
